He added that qualified eye specialists have been deployed to provide professional eye care services at the facility.

Wasswa encouraged members of the public to seek regular eye examinations, noting that many people unknowingly live with eye conditions, particularly individuals aged 40 years and above.

The Ssingo County Chief, Mukwenda Deo Kagimu, welcomed the introduction of eye-care services at the Health Centre IV, describing it as a major relief to residents.

He explained that the services will reduce the long distances patients previously traveled to Mengo Hospital in Kampala and help cut transport and treatment costs.

Mukwenda further noted that Kabaka Muteesa II Busimbi-Ssingo Health Centre IV will serve not only residents of Ssingo County but also people from neighboring counties, including Busujju, Ggomba, Butambala, and Buweekula.

He urged all subjects of the Kabaka to utilize the facility and seek timely medical care.

According to the Ministry of Health, an estimated 400,000 people in the country are blind, while over one million suffer from various eye diseases.

Health officials believe that the newly installed equipment at the Health Centre IV will contribute to reducing preventable blindness, particularly if the public prioritizes routine eye screening and treatment.

The milestone reflects the continued efforts of the Buganda Kingdom and its partners to strengthen community-based healthcare and improve the well-being of the people.
